Love this poster featuring Cannes Film Festival 2017 muse Claudia Cardinale. I missed it at the time, but there was a lot of blowback on social media over how the image had been Photoshopped. The original image does feature a more curvaceous silhouette, it's true. And one hates to think of a celebrated body type of the 50s or 60s being slimmed down to match our more recent skinnier standards. But it looks more like a design choice to me than a rewrite of body history, although as always, dubiousness is called for when assessing marketing's motives. But I mainly see a great poster when I look at this.
The chatter about trimming Cardinale's midsection makes one think of the changes the torch wielding "Columbia Lady" has gone through over the years. Her current iteration is certainly far slimmer than this 1939 version.
